AA Liveaboard Assocation/FL Chapter

AA Liveaboard Association

There is power in numbers. Our liveaboard community can develop a powerful voice for change when we come together to support our rights as a community. One of the goals of the AALA is to work with state and city legislators to open doors for liveaboards to reside at all marinas.

AA Liveaboard Association FL Chapter:

This chapter of the association is focused on FL. In particular, Fort Lauderdale. We are supporting the liveaboard community who reside on the canals of the Isle of Venice Dr and Hendricks Isle.

Are you aware of your rights and responsibilities as a liveaboard on these two streets?

Did you know, recently there was a community association meeting for the homeowners living on Isle of Venice Dr. and Hendrick Isle? The association members asked the city officials to change the current zoning and not allow liveaboards to continue to dwell on the canals around the two streets. This request is very disturbing for me and all who liveaboard boats in the area. From what I was told, the primary reason for the request was that homeowners perceive liveaboard boats are dumping waste directly into the water.

The AALA has become actively involved in this situation. We have successfully opened a channel of communication with city officials. They have provided us with the regulations and requirements for liveaboards in the city. As a community, we must stay compliant with these regulations or we will lose our privilege to be liveaboards in the area.

Contact us if you don’t have access to the regulations and requirements. Also, let us know if you aren’t currently able to be compliant. We are in this together, and we need to support each other as a community.
